The Forum on Law, Culture & Society is sponsored by the intelligent students and staff of Fordham Law School. Their students are selected from among the best and graduates are employed in the top 25 law firms in the country. The school is right in the heart of New York among the hubbub of the media and law cross-sections. This school is opening its doors to the public and intellectuals alike to join together in a conversation about the law and culture.
The Forum holds ongoing conversations throughout the year with special guests such as Grammy award winners, Pulitzer award winners, legal minds, leading politicians, and others who have some expertise in the area of law and culture. Their frequent guests include people like Dylan McDermott, Eliot Spitzer, Alec Baldwin, Mario Cuomo, Richard Dreyfuss, Sam Waterston, Marilyn Milian, Scott Turow, and many more. Supreme Court justice Sonia Sotomayor has also been in attendance at conversations sponsored by the Forum for law and culture.
The Forum also sponsors a film festival annually where films having to do with the law are screened and then discussion follows. The portrayal and perception of the law in these media is discussed in the context of law and culture. They have held five festivals so far and have found great success as their festival grows and the attention to law and popular culture.
